Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu in trouble

Almost two years ago, soon after completing �Kaaka Kaaka�, director Goutham Menon rejected all the other offers and began directing Kamalhasan in his new film �Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu�.

But, the film had run into one trouble after the other since then. Two producers walked out. The third producer is now wondering why he even bothered to invite trouble by taking up this project.

After crossing al those hurdles, it looked as if the film just might make its way to the theatres. But, well, it finds itself in yet another trouble. The film�s producer, Narayanan, has to first release a film starring Vijayakanth because this too was produced by Khaja Mohideen, the man who made a half-baked suicide attempt to get himself out of the financial black-hole he had got himself into. He was also the first producer of �Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu�. Distributors say that they wouldn�t touch the Kamalhasan film until Narayanan releases the Vijayakanth film.

Narayanan is not legally bound to do this but the pressure on him is immense. Ironically, Khaja Mohideen is a free man these days with no worry about anything at all.

Narayanan is now planning to go to court and get the issues settled. The film industry is sympathetic towards him but none is ready to come forward in his support because they don�t want to antagonize the powerful distributors� association.
