Superstars move to the stage

Mammootty and Mohanlal, the two superstars of Malayalam cinema are moving to the theatre in a big way. The two versatile actors have decided to act on stage in different plays by the end of the year!

Remember that for an actor to perform on stage is considered the ultimate in performing arts. The late Sir Lawrence Oliver and Sir Richard Burton, Hollywood�s greatest actors had all graduated from stage and they have come back to their roots and performed after getting Oscar awards.

So Mammootty and Mohanlal who are now trapped in their larger-than-life commercial images wants to do something different to prove to their loyal legion of supporters and critics that they are still the best and have fire in their belly when it comes to acting.

Mammootty is going to do a play which will be directed by young theatre director Abhilash Pillai. Pillai is a graduate from National School of Drama (NSD) and has earlier bagged the prestigious Sanskriti Award for his achievement in theatre. Mammootty had a couple of sessions with Pillai and they are working out the final script.
