Raima Sen opposite Prithviraj in Veera Putran

Bollywood actress Raima Sen, who debuted in South Indian films with Ravi Teja’s Telugu film Dhairyam (2005), has signed her first Malayalam flick Veera Putran to be directed by P.T. Kunju Mohammed.

Veera Putran is a historical period drama which tells the real life story of Abdul Rehman Sahib, famous freedom fighter and Congress leader. Young superstar Prithviraj is the hero.

Confirming her Malayalam debut, the actress said: "When I was approached, I asked the director if he really wanted me since I have been mainly been involved with commercial cinema. He told me that he had seen Aparna Sen’s The Japanese Wife and was impressed." Raima will play Prithviraj’s wife in this film, which will start rolling in May.

According to sources, a language expert will help the actress with her Malayalam diction. "For me, language has never been a barrier; I am open to any project that appeals to me as an actor. My mother (Moon Moon Sen) and sister (Riya) have acted in several South Indian films so I’m really excited,” she said.
