Puthupettai limping!

Selvaraghavan�s gang war epic Puthupettai has been badly bruised at the box-office. Except for Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai, the film is sliding alarmingly all over Tamilnadu.

The Telugu version of the film Dhoolpet is a total washout and will not even recover the cost of its print and publicity! The main problem with the film is that lady and family audiences are just refusing to go and watch the film due to its excessive violence.

In Tiruchi, Madurai, Salem and Tirunelveli areas Puthupettai fell on the second day itself. The distributors and theatres who paid huge MG�s are likely to lose about 60 to 70 percent of their investment.

The trouble with the film is that it had too much blood and gore and the audiences were clueless about the happenings in the climax. Producers Lakshmi Movie Makers have chopped about 16 minutes of the 176 minute film, but theatres in south Tamilnadu liberally edited off 35 minutes of the second half!

An enterprising theatre owner in Tiruchi area has butchered the climax and ends the film where the policemen escort Dhanush from the prison!
