Priyanka signs deal with UTV

Priyanka Chopra has joined the list of Bollywood stars tying up with production companies for long-term contracts.

The actress announced on Tuesday that she has signed a three-film contact with UTV for four years.

Rumours of similar high-stake deals involving stars like Hrithik Roshan and Akshaye Kumar are doing the rounds as well.

However, this is the first time a formal announcement has been made.

"It's non-exclusive, which means I am free to do other films as well. I'll have a lot of control, I can choose the scripts etc," Priyanka said.

This latest trend of the growing corporatisation of Bollywood seems to be a win-win for the actors, much like in the west.

"We are going the Hollywood way where the actors are under contract. This builds healthy relationships," said Ram Mirchandani, Senior VP, UTV.

While none of her films have been decided yet, Priyanka has one worry out of the way for at least the next few years.
