Pandippada outsmarts pirates

The State Police is doing its best to get rid of the menace of piracy. But, frankly the problem cant be eliminated easily. There were times when audio release brought in lot of money for the producers. Ever since VCD and audio cassette piracy began, the revenue had almost dried up.

But, things are different at the 'Pandippada' camp. And credit goes to the film's producers Santosh and Anoop. In spite of audio piracy, the sales of 'Pandippada's music tracks have created records of sorts in recent times. Though the market is full of pirated versions, people are still buying the original ones.

How did the producers manage that? Did they use any special techniques to jam all the pirated versions? No. "We sold our CDs and MP3's at the same price that pirated versions were being sold. Previously the audio company would release only 1000 CDs. We brought out 5000 copies and all were sold within a few days!," said Santosh.

When originals are available at the price of pirated copies, why would anyone go for the latter?
