Meera Jasmine hikes rate

Though Kavya Madhavan continues to be the perennial No 1 actress in Malayalam, it is Meera Jasmine who makes more money per film. The actress has now started to shift her focus to Malayalam but she is doing reasonably well in other languages too. She does star in an occasional film or two in Telugu. The money that she makes in Tollywood is twice the amount she makes per film in Malayalam. Meera Jasmine is very much aware that she isn't quite the heroine-material in Telugu and has therefore accepted an offer to play the role of the hero's sister in a film.

There aren't that many offers in Telugu but rumors are now on that she has hiked her rates in the language. Many in the industry think that it is not such a smart decision on her part but Meera Jasmine has her reasons. If rumors of the price hike indeed are true then it is because she is playing the kind of roles that most heroines or wannabe-heroines hesitate to play- sister roles. So, maybe the price hike is justified!
