Meera - Highest paid Malayalam actress?

Meera Jasmine has become the highest paid actress in Malayalam films! Last week the demure actress signed a record deal, for Rs 15 lakhs to be Dileep�s heroine in noted director Blessy�s Calcatta News!

It is the highest ever paid to an actress of Malayalee origin, as earlier I.V Sasi and producer �Liberty� Basheer paid Rs 20 lakhs to Katrina Kaif to be Mammootty�s heroine in Balram Vs Taradas. The second highest paid heroine is Gopika (Rs 6 lakhs), followed by Kavya Madhavan(Rs 5 lakhs), Padmapriya, Vimala Raman (Rs 4 lakhs) and Navya Nair(Rs 3 lakhs).

Meera�s rise to the top bracket has been phenomenal. In other regional language films Meera is getting Rs 25 to 35 lakhs , and was avoiding Malayalam films where she was offered only Rs 5 to 6 lakhs! But last year when Mohanlal wanted her to be his heroine for Sathyan Anthikad directed Rasathantram, she was willing to do it provided they made her salary double digit-Rs 10 lakhs. The producer Antony Perumbavoor reluctantly agreed and Rasathantram became a big hit, and Meera proved she was a lucky star.

Later she did Mammootty�s arty Ore Kadal for the same amount. Then early this year Sathyan Anthikad approached her with an emergency, Meera was to replace a new girl who could not act, in his Dileep film Vinodayatra. Meera wanted Rs 14 lakhs to do the film, Sathyan one of her mentors had to swallow his pride and agree as the film was due for Vishu! The Kerala lady audiences simply love Meera who they think is a brave girl with the right attitude. The roles she has done in her films and the way she came out a winner in her real life battles, has created a halo around her.
