Mammootty annoyed with IFFA

Nobody in the Malayalam film industry has anything good to say about the India International Film Awards that was held in Dubai.

Almost all the leading film personalities had turned up to attend the celebrations. Malayalam superstar Mammooty, an otherwise polite person, just couldn�t hide his anguish at the way non-Hindi films were treated at the ceremony.

The nominations for almost all the main categories were from Bollywood films. �Black� hogged the limelight with its multiple nominations. Not even a single other-language film featured on the list, though 7 Tamil, four Malayalam and 3 Telugu films were screened.

The complete negative bias towards non-Hindi films provoked Mammooty to remark during his speech that IFFA should be named as International Hindi Film Awards. �There is a world beyond Bollywood,� he said.

Mammooty added that the nominations were an insult to South Indian films. He bitterly condemned the partisan attitude that IFFA showed this time. �I don�t care if Bollywood bigwigs are going to be offended by this, but I really don�t have a problem with speaking my mind in this issue,� the Malayalam superstar declared.
