Gajini goes over budget!

Surya maybe riding a wave with a Filmfare award and a handful of endorsements but at the box-office he is yet to deliver a super hit! Among his films so far, only Kaakha Kaakha can be classified as hit and that too in �A� centres. Pitamagan was also a hit but the credit went to Vikram and director Bala.

Surya�s last two solo releases, Peralagan and Mayaavi were flops which means the distributors never got back the money that they had invested. Still, the trade feels that he is worth investing, as all his films have good directors and banners.

Now Surya�s next release Gajini has gone over the budget and the producer Salem Chandrasekhar is fuming and fretting. The film was sold to distributors for around Rs 6 Crore after keeping the budget as Rs 5 Crore!

But director A.R.Murugadass has overshot the budget and now it will cost Rs 8.50 Crore including print and publicity at the time of release. The big question asked is can Surya make Gajini work at the box-office?
