Emraan wants 'A' certificate for Murder 2
Ask any filmmaker or an actor and he dreads to see his movie being released with cuts or given an 'A' certificate. Not only does it dilute the flavour of the film and the original intent that it has been made; it also results in restricted audience. However for Murder 2, its lead actor Emraan Hashmi is happy with an exception. He admits that he would have no qualms if the film gets an 'A' certificate.
"It is as simple as that; it would be a disaster of a film if there are any cuts proposed. We don't want any of that", reasons Emraan, "And without cuts I am sure that Censors won't give it a U certificate. I am fine with that as long as the film is retained in its entirety and comes with an 'A' certificate."
There is another probability of the film being passed with no cuts and still allowed a 'U/A' certificate. "Well, Murder 2 is not for kids in any case so I would rather prefer an 'A' certificate. Let only those people watch the film for whom it is intended for", says Emraan, a father now, who is happily singing a different tune today when compared to his earlier days of being a free bird.
"Well, this hasn't anything to do with me a father or not", he says, "There is a thin line between erotica and vulgarity and that has been taken care of by Mohit Suri (the film's director). He knows how to give classy treatment to even bold subjects. However, Murder 2 goes beyond the sex quotient here. There are disturbing scenes in the film with not so understated violence which is not suitable for the young ones."
The obvious question surrounding the film is - 'Whether 'turning bold' has taken a different meaning altogether for Murder 2?'
"I don't know whether what we have done in the film is akin to taking one step ahead or not; that's something for audience has to say. However I can confirm though that we have stayed true to the script. There hasn't been any compromise there even if this means that there would be several moments of discomfort while watching the film. We have also kept this in mind that since the release of Murder, audience can digest a lot more than what they could seven years back", he says.
Given the fact that despite such 'audience maturity' coming in, if Emraan is actually insisting for an 'A' certificate, one dreads to think what really is up there for the grabs in the film's content.
