Asin`s dreams shattered!

The buzz in Bollywood is that Aamir Khan's remake of Tamil Ghajani is likely to start rolling by New year. Earlier Aamir was supposed to start Mani Ratnam's Lajjo, but it has been postponed to June next year.

And the big news is that Priyanka Chopra , currently the hottest leading lady after the stupendous success of Krrish and Don has been signed up to play the role done by Asin in the original. It means Asin's dream of moving over to Bollywood has been shattered!

Asin had herself said in many interviews, that Aamir had congratulated her for her performance in Ghajani, and how Murgadoss the director of the film had promised her the role in the Hindi remake. Now it looks like Murgadoss himself may not do the remake in Hindi.

First and foremost thing that Asin should understand is Hindi cinema has global market and only fair skinned Aryan or North Indian girls are given priority. Asin is far superior performer and a dancer than Priyanka, but in the eyes of Bollywood viewers she lacks the oomph and glamour which the former Miss World has in plenty.

Added to that Aamir-Priyanka are a far more saleable, and is a sure bet at the box-office. The last heroine from south who made it big in Hindi cinema, was Sridevi, 17 years back!

A director like Priyadarsan who has terrific clout in Bollywood, found that his idea to launch Trisha in Hindi came a cropper. The Hindi hero's prefer to have a north indian girl as their heroine even if she is a newcomer.
