Adaminte Makan Abu in legal trouble

A Thrissur based filmmaker named Abbas Kalathode has staked claim to the story of the award-winning Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu.

In a press conference in Thrissur on Wednesday, Kalathode alleged that Adaminte Makan Abu's director Salim Ahmed copied the story and even the style of presentation of his 21-minute short-film 'Maruppacha', made about eight years ago. Kalathode said he had written the story and script for 'Maruppacha'.

"The only difference is that while the lead character in my film (enacted by actor Irshad) is young, that of Adaminte Makan Abu (the award-winning character of Salim Kumar) is old. Otherwise, the situations, even songs have been copied from my film," he said.

He said it was injustice that Ahmed had been selected for the State award for best story, which Kalathode claimed was originally written by him. He said he is planning to file a case against the director.
