Adi Thadi

Thirupathi (Satyaraj) is the most powerful and notorious mafia leader who has high influence in political and bureaucratic circle. He is 50, bald, wears only dhoti and always in the company of atleast 10 men, as he has extreme disliking for women. He hates women to the extent that he sends his only brother Surya (Napoleon) whom he loves so much just because he falls in love with a girl (Sukanya) and marries her. One day Thirupathi is invited as a chief guest for the Miss Chennai beauty contest, where he meets Priya (Radhi), the winner and he gets carried away by her speech falls for her. Surya becomes the head of another rival gang and works for a ruthless gangster Tamizhselvan (Devan).

Priya gets shocked when she comes to know that a man of her fathers age proposes to her and she rejects him bluntly. . She is already in love with Arjun (Abbas) who lives in Mumbai and with whom she is already engaged. But Thirupathi tries in all possible ways to impress her but in vain. Now he seeks his brother Suryas help to impress the girl he loves, since he feels Surya knows womens mind well. The reunited Surya changes Thirupathis looks altogether. Whether Thirupathi succeeds in his attempts forms the rest of the story. Satyaraj as Thirupathi has given superb performance. The role of a chronic bachelor with a notorious background fits him like a T. He is remarkable in his timing sense and sarcastic comedy comes to him very naturally. Napoleon is adequate. Radhi looks pretty and is apt for the college student role. Sukanya and Abbas do not have much scope for acting. Director Shivraj who has written the story keeping Satyaraj in mind starts off the film as a hilarious comedy. But somewhere in the midway the screenplay lacks the comedy sense. In an attempt to attract the girl in love though Satyaraj indulges in disgraceful activities the directors cleverness has to be appreciated to make those scenes in a very funny way. Deva appears in a song sequence. Music is average. R.Selvas camera is ok.
