Sathyan award for Jagathy

The Kerala Cultural Forum has decided to award this year's prestigious Satyan prize for excellence in acting, to veteran film star Jagathy Sreekumar. The prize carries a bag of ten thousand rupees and a certificate. The prize will be given away on the November 9th on the 97th birth centenary day of the esteemed actor Sathyan.

Jagathy Sreekumar who is into his thirty forth year in filmdom, still continues to be one of the busiest actor of Mollywood. He has already acted in around 1070 films in Malayalam.

An actor who undoubtedly has the most number of fans in Mollywood, Jagathy is a simple person who doesn't have any secretaries or assistants. He still roams around in his old car used by his father, a noted dramatist and writer, Jagathy N K Achary. He might be the only actor in India who doesn't carry a mobile with him, but never ever breaks his schedules and call sheets. The award is indeed a niche for this star performer.
