Mohanlal on a spiritual trip!

Mohanlal is planning to go for a pilgrimage to Kailash- Manasarovar the holy abode of Lord Shiva deep in the Himalayas, in western Tibet.Kailash is the holy place of Hindus and is said to be the throne of Lord Shiva, one of the three principle Gods of the Hindu pantheon. Scenically the area is breadth- taking and stunning.

At 22,022 feet, Kailash towers the Himalayan mountain range. Manasarovar is famous as one of the highest lakes in the world. Four of the greatest rivers in the sub-continent - Indus, Sutlej, Ganges and Brahmaputra originate around Kailash.

For Mohanlal who is well read about Hindu mythology, from his childhood it was a secret desire to visit Kailash-Mansarovar and get ‘purified” as the myths say! He had applied for special pilgrimage visa to visit the mountains located in Western Tibet. Every year less than 1000 visas are issued by the authorities.

For the last two months Mohanlal has been on a vegetarian diet and was spiritually getting ready for the trek. The trip will also require at least 18 days of Mohanlal’s precious dates.

His producers are unhappy that he is yet to finish work on the pending films like Udayon. Added to that his Onam release Thappana being launched on May 1 will get delayed if he goes to Kailash in the middle of May.
