Meesa Madhavan in Tamil

Lal Jose's super-hit comedy entertainer Meesa Madhavan (2002), starring Dileep as a petty thief, is now in the list of movies to be remade in Kollywood. the Tamil remake of the film is planned to be directed by Prabhakaran with Karthik and Nayantara in the lead.

Meesa Madhavan, a huge hit in Kerala, was an excellent entertainer with very lovable characters, funny scenes and a smooth screenplay. Scripted by Ranjan Pramod, the movie featured Kavya Madhavan in the female lead with Jyothirmayi, Jagathy, Cochin Haneefa, Harisree Ashokan, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Salim Kumar and Indrajith in the cast.

In 2002, the movie created a history in the state by running continuously for 80 days in theatres where it released first. The success of the movie was equivalent to that of Mohanlal's megahits Chitram and Kilukkam.

Vidyasagar’s music to the lyrics by Girish Puthenchery was the highlight of the film. He composed four songs; 'Vaaleduthaal', 'Chinga maasam', 'Kazhimizhi', 'Penne penne' which all were super-hits. Meesa Madhavan was a turning point for Dileep, establishing him as a uncrowned king in the mainstream Malayalam movie industry.
