Mammootty plays folk dancer
Mammootty is one such versatile actor who wants to excel in almost all kinds of role that exists. This time he is set to play a Chavittu Natakom artist in his latest movie 'Kutty Shranku' by filmmaker Shaji N Karun. Films like ‘Cheriyachante Krurakrithyangal’, ‘Chamayam’, ‘Thommanum Makkalum’ and ‘Kizhakkan Pathrose’ has captured the folk art Chavittu Natakam formerly. It is art form with songs, dialogues and dances. The art has not found too much prominence in Malayalam movies.
A Thattu has been constructed for the film and shooting will take place in Alappuzha Thuruthu seashore and Vaikkom Poothotta. Thirty artists including Mammootty are undergoing training in the various steps of the art form by Fr. V P Joseph of Aalappuzha Pauranika Ranga Kala Peedom.
