You certainly need a brave heart to endure Vinayan’s tough-on-nerves, four years in the making War And Love. Suspend logic and belief, as Vinayan and his co-scriptwriter Pallaseri will take you for a big royal ride.

Alas this wannabe war film lacks the savage edge of a J.P.Dutta or even an Anil Sharma film. Never heard of a bunch of comedians like Dileep, Siddique, Jagadish, Machan Varghese, Kalabhavan Mani, Vijayaraghavan and others in a platoon in the Indian army! And for company they have the big fatso Prabhu from Tamil as lieutenant colonel heading the comedy regiment!

Eat it or beat it buddy, this one is quite unbelievable and takes the cake- A Pakistani General from Mallapuram and his daughter who speaks in Malayalam! The plot is pure crap and is an excuse to indulge in Pakistan and Muslim bashing. While the ability to induce a migraine is one of the major flaws of this film, what is more seriously disturbing is the unabashed jingoism especially in dialogues.

Whoever concocted this story, needs to consult a shrink. Surely nothing but an addled mind could have imagined the situations, events and characters on display. A battalion of Malayalees like P.K.Gopinath (Dileep), Lt Col Sarathchandran (Prabhu) and the brigade of comedians are stationed in a border. Their job is to catch terrorists sneaking in from Pakistan who have infiltrated into border areas.

Once due to the treachery of an Indian officer (a Muslim) the regiment is trapped and taken to a Pakistani military camp. At the camp headed by Jaffar Khan (Mukesh Rishi), general, the prisoners are treated to inhuman torture. Khan’s daughter Zarina (Laila) is saved by Gopi from a rapist attack by a Jihadi terrorist! And love blossoms between the two! How Zarina helps the prisoners to escape and the daring Gopi diffuses a nuclear bomb (?) forms the climax.

There is not even one redeeming factor in this amateurishly shot film. The first half looks ancient. Dileep is wasted and Prabhu’s dubbed voice is jarring. You run out of the hall while, the Pakistani general’s daughter Laila holds the Indian flag and says, ”Bharat Mata Ki Jai”!!!
