Devarajan (Mammootty) is a dare devil adventurous crane operator but once he was a goonda and many feared him. Devrajan who repents about his past leads a peaceful life with wife Nandu (Nandini) and a son Appu.

Their happiness did not last too long. His life began to crumble when he rescued an actress from an accident. He lost everything including his wife and finally turns a murderer. Vasundhara Das and Nandini play the female lead roles opposite Mammootty in Vajram, directed by Pramod Pappan. Huge crowds turned up in Kolencherry to see the scene of a car which fell into a gorge being lifted using a crane. Mammootty is the crane operator. Vasundhara Das was seated in the car. This is Vasundhara Das` second film the first one was Ravanaprabhu with Mohanlal. In Vajram, Vasundhara does the role of an actress who meets with an accident and how the hero rescues her.
