Superbad is a story of two best friends, Seth and Even, approaching the end of high school and dealing with their upcoming separation, as they will be attending different colleges. Superbad is produced Judd Apatow who wrote and directed Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

The story centers around Seth and Evan’s quest for girlfriends and acceptance. Michael Cera, who played George Michael Bluth on Arrested Development, is just a good as Even as he was as George Michael. Aptow has the ability to balance comedic crassness with a deeper message. The story includes details of Seth’s obsessive need to draw penises, while revealing the deep friendship of Seth and Evan and their difficulty in expressing it.

As a high-school coming-of-age comedy, Superbad is on par with Sixteen Candles and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The movie introduces a cast of stereotypical, yet intriguing, characters. The high-school nerds, bully, popular girls. There is enough ranch to satisfy the teen male (or teen portion of the adult male) and enough heart to satisfy a female audience. A good date move.
