Shivam from Shaji Kailas merely gives political thrillers a bad name. It is neither exciting nor absorbing and is in fact as hackneyed as they get. For God’s sake Shaji and other directors have to realise that they cannot make Biju Menon another action hero like Suresh Gopi.

The formulaic plot is about liquor baron Medayil Devarajan’s (Sai Kumar) clash with the upright circle inspector Bhadran (Biju). Devarajan is a bad-mad bozo and a creep who has a finger in all shady deals in town. He wants to make his right hand man Oommen Koshy the new excise minister. Devarajan just takes over the goody- goody Padmanabhan master’s family house with the help of his goons. Thus starts a confrontation between the cop who is as strong as King Kong and Mr Screw loose. The film then peters out to a bang-slam-pot-boiler and the director’s agenda is to splash sauce and gore. Inevitably the cop hero triumphs in the last reel after being humiliated and even being suspended from service.

All said and endured there is nothing new in this cop and bull story and the biggest drawback of the film is the hero, Biju Menon who could not carry the film on his shoulders. One really thought that it was Suresh Gopi who could have done the role more convincingly. Sai Kumar as Devarajan strikes an icy menace through his body language. Nandini as the cop’s wife is there to shed tears. On the whole this film looks like Manoj Bajpai’s Shool and leaves you totally exhausted.
