Director Siddique is well-known for his comedy flicks. In Malayalam he has directed as may as nine such movies, all of which had turned out to be super-hits. He has become familiar to Tamil audiences through 'Friends' and 'Engal Anna'. In his latest 'Sadhu Miranda', he blends up a comedy with real thrilling moments. This is something new which Siddique has attempted perhaps for the first time.

Prasanna, who has hitherto donned soft roles as a lover boy, finds a new identity in 'Sadhu Miranda' as a versatile actor. Heroine Kavya Madhavan with her big eyes and vitality has got a good opportunity to portray her character as graphically as a seasoned actress.

A whole lot of comedians have been roped in and the comedy track is woven into the main plot. So, comedy is heavier than action. And it works out well since comedy is Siddique's forte.

Ram Mohan (Abbas) and his brother, Siva, (Raja Sridhar) robs a bank of Rs 20 crore. Sundaramurthy's (Prasanna) sister, held hostage by them, is shot dead by Abbas. Prasanna's mother also dies of shock and Abbas escapes to the US.

To avenge the killing of his sister and the death of his mother, Prasanna, an IIT drop-out, abducts Siva, the brother of Abbas, and makes him a drug addict. In the garb of Siva, Prasanna finds his way to the house of Priya (Kavya Madhavan), a television anchor, who is a girlfriend of Abbas. Using her, Prasanna brings Abbas back. The face-off between Prasanna and Abbas forms the latter part of the story. An interesting twist in the story comes in the form of Kavya Madhavan turning against Abbas and winning the heart of Prasanna.

This film would prove as a boon to Prasanna as it changes his identity as a romantic hero into one of an actor who has the potential to take on varied roles. He gives a stirring performance as 'Sadhu' (innocent and docile person). His posing as a mentally unsound person, just out of an asylum, while dealing with the money lenders Karunas and M.S Bhaskar and his clearing the debt that Kavya's family incurred to enable her sister to rejoin her estranged husband are noteworthy. His fiery fights with Kanal Kannan's gang members who attempted to molest a school girl show that he is no less than established action heroes. His characterization of the role which demands a display of "navarasas" is truly commendable.

Kavya Madhavan proves equal to Prasanna. Their romantic interludes are exhilarating. In every sequence, she excels. Her costumes and make-up though, could have been better.

Abbas turns a villain. Comedy villain is Kota Srinivasa Rao who appears as Minister. M.S. Bhaskar, Charlie and Vaiyapuri constitute the money lending gang along with Karunas as security guard. Their buffoonery is the strength of the story. As "Gaana Vaana Manickam", Bhaskar creates ripples with his dialogues in Nellai Tamil.

Deepak Dev's music is average. Prathap V. Kumar's camerawork is commendable.

'Sadhu Miranda' is a film which has the essential ingredients of action, comedy and family sentiment. With surprising twists and turns, the film moves fast.
