RasikanCast: Dileep, Samvritha, Haripriya, Biju Menon, Jagathy Language: Malayalam Banner: Trinity Cinemas Director: Lal Jose Producer: Sudheesh Camera: Rajeev Ravi Story: Muraleekrishnan Screenplay: Muraleekrishnan Dialogue: Muraleekrishnan Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery Music: Vidyasagar Distribution: Kalasangam, Kass & Right Release Year: 2004
The story happens in Dalava Street where the hero Shivan Kutty (Dileep) resides. He doesn't have a proper job but makes his living sticking film posters, selling tickets in black and does some electrician and repair works. He also is an ardent fan of Mohanlal.
The film has two heroines, a very modern Karishma (played by Haripriya) who is doing her engineering and Thanki (played by newcomer Samvritha) who is Dileep's cousin. Dileep develops a crush on Haripriya. Samvritha, his cousin, is in love with him but doesn't tell him.
The story heats up (well, actually, the story begins to happen) when a local gangster Bhaskaran (played by Muralikrishnan) kills a cop. He is arrested on suspicion. But, the terrified villagers refuse to come forward to give witness against him. Biju Menon, the local police inspector tries to motivate people to come forward and testify.
Touched by the plight of the dead man's family, Dileep suddenly decides to come forward and give statements against the gangster. He soon becomes a celebrity in the village. But, the gangster swears revenge on him. He comes out on parole and Dileep's nightmares begin.
How he overcomes his fears and confronts the gangster forms the rest of the story.
There is only one problem with the film- the first half irks you and you start wondering if there is a story at all in the film! Suddenly, everything gets so serious in the second half.
