Sarathy (Vijay) is an impeccable guy who flourishes in any undertaking. He is a character that lot of people would want to imitate. It is for the success in his venture that people are ardently looking for in the film. How fate could paralyze his whole life or take him to the top is that which the entire film tells. It is a real melodramatic soap-opera that moves hearts of viewers and at the same time gives a message for the audience.

The inspiration for this film has been drawn from a Telugu film 'Murari' which has similar twists and knots in it. Prediction tells that the youth will live until 27 and within that period of his life he would have seen and enjoyed everything in his life. But the very fact that all the zeal and enthusiasm of the youth is going to be put to an end by the twist of fate invites tears from the audience. All through the film, the way director has made the viewers fear whether really the prediction would come true, wins an applause from those quarters of the masses who have a fine taste for the story of the film. The youth stumbles when he meets Reddiar a businessman-gangster and the meeting leads to a lot of scuffle and violence between them. Sarathy wants to put an end to the violence perpetrated by Reddiar on the deprived lot and also to the callousness, which is reflected when he wants to chase out these people out of their homes.

He then meets with a freak accident, which leaves the viewers forebode whether the prediction is coming true. The very much spoken about sixth finger of the youth serves no purpose in the film. The main intention of bringing down Amisha and Meera Jasmine has been wasted in the movie. Overall Puthiya Geethai has nothing new!
