Divakaran (Jayaram) is an MLA who works for the people. His father, a communist leader Kunhikannan, was killed by the power hungry communists. Divakaran's mother is an ordinary labourer. Despite opposition from the corrupt in the party, Divakaran, manages to win the elections and become an MLA. Diwakaran is loved and respected by everyone but he also has to face some powerful enemies inside his party.

Geetu Mohandas as Jayaram's wife has given a powerful performance, but the story of communist bashing and honest politician has come too often and fails to excite. Riaz Khan, as the villain, hams his way through. Music by Raghu Kumar is average. Shanki Mahendran, son of noted cameraman Balu Mahendra in his debut as cinematographer shows promise.
