Noted cinematographer Vipin Mohan turns director with Pattanathil Sundaran, produced by Liberty Basheer and Vijayan Menon under the banner of Liberty Thara Productions.

Vipin tells the story of a shop keeper Sundaresan (Dilip) who has problems in his horoscope. Sundaresan is basically a tenth standard student and happens to marry a girl Radhamani (Navya) who is a post graduate and face similar problem in her horoscope. Radhamani gets a job as a clerk at the state secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram. She is overjoyed but a highly egoistic Sundaresan is not. Soon they move to Thiruvananthapuram and stay in Sekharan Pillai's (Cochin Haneefa) house.

The trouble with Sundaresan is that he becomes suspicious of Radhamani and tries his best to see that she loses her job. Radhamani gets fed up and applies for a divorce. They start living separately and Radhamani realises that she is pregnant and determines not to show the baby to Sundaresan who adores children. The difference of attitude that happens in their life and the serious situations that takes place in their life is depicted in this movie.

The film is a cross between slapstick comedy and family sentiments. The script seems to have been reworked by the scriptwriter and director to suit Dileep's new image and hence the film stands somewhere between seriousness and silly buffoonery. Navya Nair is superb as Radhamani with her tongue-in-cheek dialogues and love-hate relationship with her husband.
