Mohanlal enacts the role of a gulf returnee in Joshi's latest Malayalam film Mambazhakkalam. The shooting is taking place at Jose Pattara's house in Muhamma, Cherthala. In the film, the superstar does the role of Pratap K Chandran, another heroic character, an elegant gulf returnee who is a good samaritan. T A Shahid has written the script for the film.

Mohanlal after performing Kathayattom in Delhi reached the location and was received by Aroma Mani, Joshi and T A Shahid. The superstar's latest Onam release Natturajavu is ruling the box office.

Chandran always takes life as it comes and faces all problems with a smile. He has everyone but no one to call it his own. He struggled a lot to settle his siblings and in the run he did not even bother to care for his own life. At times, he feels dejected. Shobana is paired opposite Mohanlal and she plays Indira in the film. They were last seen together in I V Sasi's Shradha nearly four years back.

Apart from Mohanlal and Shobana the film also has Kalabhavan Mani, Sudheesh, Harisri Asokan, Cochin Haneefa, Shammi Thilakan, Kaviyoor Ponnamma and many others. M Jayachandran composes music for the songs penned by Girish Puthencherry. Sanjeev Shanker wields the camera. The film produced by M Mani under the banner of Aroma Movie International will be brought to the theatres by Aroma Movies.
