D.C.P. Anant Srivastav (Amitabh Bachchan) a bold and
dangerous cop, is already in the sunset of his career. Well known as ‘The
Professor’ he is assigned the task to escort an ISI agent and terrorist Iqbal
Ansari (Ajay Devgan) from Chandragadh to Mumbai. The D.C.P. considers this his
most challenging assignment since he failed in this operation earlier. This time
he has to prove himself to the department that he is indeed ‘The Professor’. To
execute this operation he is accompanied with the street smart and brave Senior
Inspector Shekhar Sachdev (Akshay Kumar) and young, middle class Sub Inspector
Ashwini Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor) and two constables. ....
Shekhar, who is a
corrupt officer reluctantly agrees to the operation and in contrast Ashwini who
is on his first serious assignment is upright and raring to go, is about to find
out the difference between training school and the ground reality. These three
officers accompany Iqbal Ansari who is a witness to an important case. What they
don’t know is that there is an unknown enemy who is stopping them from reaching
their destination. Now this nameless, faceless enemy is always one step ahead of
them. How the cops win over the enemy forms the story line.
Santoshi
knows the art of extracting the best from his artistes. Amitabh Bachchan has
given a wonderful performance, no doubt one of his best to date. Akshay Kumar
and Ajay Devgan are master performers who have left a strong impression on you
after the movie. Aishwarya Rai has done justice to her role once again proving
her acting talent. The film also features Tanuja in an important role. Jayaprada
makes an appearance after a long hibernation and has given a neat performance.
Lara Dutta has sizzled in an item number "Aisa Jadoo" which is already topping
the charts.
The Director Santoshi focuses on the working of the police
system without portraying them negatively. The core of the movie is that the
enemy is nameless and faceless and they attack you in all direction. The Khakee
spider takes nearly 3 hours to spin its web with numerous twists and turns and
the pre-climax catching you totally off guard . Santoshi keeps his audience
glued to their seats with some explosive, fast moving frames. He has good
control of all the frames. This is one of the best scripts Santoshi has handled
so far. Sridhar Raghavan’s screenplay has a lot of punch and receives lot of
applause from the audience. Cinematography by K.V. Anand is brilliant and Stunt
sequences by Tinu Verma give wonderful support to the already strong storyline.
