KaliveeduCast: Jayaram, Jagadesh, Innocent, Manju Warrier, Vani Viswanath Language: Malayalam Director: Sibi Malayil Producer: Dinesh Panicker Year: 1996
Among noted films released that year, Kaliveedu, produced by Dinesh Panikkar and directed by Sibi Malayil, portrays a 'spit- and- polish' husband, Mahesh, played by Jayaram and an immature wife, Mridula, played by Manju. Due to seemingly insurmountable problems posed by their distinct attitudes to life, they divorce.
Other people come into their individual lives, especially when an NRI girl, played by Vani Viswanath, decides to move in with Jayaram for a three month trial before they make a decision about marriage. Vani is opinionated, independent and self-disciplined. She is also fair-minded about Mahesh's previous marriage, and ultimately becomes a catalyst in bringing the divorced couple together again. A storyline full of possibilities, but reeking with holes in the script and faulty dialogues. Manju's spritely acting is a saving grace.
