After Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hai and Vivah, Rajshri production has come up with another ritual rich flick, Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi. No violence, no conspiracy, no animosity and a free flow plain melodrama is the trade mark of Sooraj Barjartiya and this time too he has acted according to their hallmark and the result is a tragic failure. In this world of pizzas and pubs, rona dhona, bundle of songs and dances, dozens of rituals, marriage, and death seems indigestible on the part of the audience. The Barjatiya camp does not want to experiment versatility and ends up with same age old stories in which they have attained PhD.
When one watches the flick, he or she would feel like scratching his head in disgust. Same formula has been applied in every film and obviously the audience would want to get rid of those age old plot and crave for something unique which would compel them to put some pressure on their brain to solve the plot and raise their goose bumps. Unfortunately, Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi have no connection with such novelties. It will appeal those group of cine-buffs who strongly believes in Indian tradition, who love to see their son and daughter well-mannered, cultured not indulge in any sort of unpleasant activities and perform their duty with utmost sincerity which regrettably missing in today’s generation and in fact when the film unveiled, they will not been able to relate with those sequences.
Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi tells the story of a dutiful daughter Chandni (Isha Kopikkar) who carries on her back the responsibility of shaping up the future of her siblings-Anuj & Sandhya after the death of her father Bhushan (Alok Nath) on the day of her engagement. Her father’s sudden death has compelled her to think many things. Her marriage takes a backseat and the future of her brother and sister has become a topmost priority for her. Chandni is fortunate to get fiancé like Prem (Sonu Sood) who is a big industrialist and falls for her in a concert where she has performed. Chandni is trained in classical and folk music and Prem too is an unconventional ghazal singer. Music connects the two and they fall for each other.
As ill luck would have stuck, Chandni in order to build up the future of her two school going brother and sister is bound to postpone her marriage to 12 long years. Prem like a loving and caring boyfriend waited for Chandni long and lend her full support. He like a dedicated, loving and caring life partner stood by her side in thick and thin. He has offered her moral support and made things easy for her in spite of receiving innumerable objections from his family.
The Barjatiyas never allow their audience to leave the theatre in gloomy mood and like their earlier offerings Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi also has a happy ending. Speaking about the performances, Sonu Sood did not look charming like previous Prem typically played by Salman Khan but portrayed his part well. Isha Koppikar rarely gets chance to play lead character but this time she has got the opportunity and she is blessed, Isha ruled throughout. Alok Nath as usual shines in the role of fa ther.
Music by Ravindra Jain is nothing extra-ordinary and the flavor of Barjatiya music is missing.
In a nutshell, Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi is an old fashioned film, very plain and no heavy loaded techniques are used for flamboyance. But fail to satisfy the thirst of the audience who always crave for newness and fresh occurrence. They are fed up on listening to the same hoary tale but Sooraj Barjatiya can’t help as they have attained mastery in this particular arena and therefore fails to offer the audience anything innovative and carried forward with the same long-standing theme.
