Daivathinte MakanCast: Jayaram, Jagathy, Mani, Pooja Batra Language: Malayalam Banner: Swarnachithra Films Director: Vinayan Producer: Vindyan Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery Music: Vidyasagar Distribution: Swargachithra Release Year: 2000
Vinayan’s lighthearted humour and the apt casting have helped the film to be an entertainer. It has a simple story line. Sonia daughter of a rich father is in love with Sunny an orphan brought up by the priest of the church. Sunny is a good singer, plays the violin and is very witty.
He knows that Sonia is in love with him but he does not respond because he knows that he cannot match up to her status but Sonia thinksdifferently and one day she publicly kisses him on stage and tells her dad that she wants to marry Sunny. The family is up in arms and the priest in the dock. Sonia’s chase of Sunny and the merry go around forms the story. Janardhan as the priest, Jayram as the orphan, Pooja Batra as Sonia are aptly cast and to add to this fun is Jagathy and Kalabhavan Mani. The songs by Vidyasagar are also good and keep in tune with the film’s mood. A film to have good laughs.
