ChakramCast: Prithviraj, Meera Jasmine, Vijeesh, Meghanathan, Machan Varghese Language: Malayalam Director: Lohithadas Producer: Krishna Das Story: Lohithadas Screenplay: Lohithadas Dialogue: Lohithadas Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery Music: Raveendran Year: 2003
The film Chakram directed by Lohithadas is said to be unsatisfactory. Prithviraj's stars are shining less brightly these days and have not been able to churn out a hit for which his directors have to be blamed. The script and presentation are boring while the lead role seems to be too heavy for Prithviraj.
Chandrahaasan (Prithviraj) who had a bad childhood grows up to be a rough and tough lorry driver and gambler. Through gambling he was able to build an empire of seven lorries, houses and all good things in life. His best friend Giri (Chandrabhanu) is an alcoholic and womaniser. On one of their road journeys Chandrahaasan meets Indira (Meera Jasmine) a Punjabi girl selling pans and cigarettes. Giri has an eye on her but Chandrahaasan falls in love with her and marries her. One day Giri loses in a game and Chandru helps him by playing for him. But it was a trap and Giri cheats his friend. Giri then kidnaps Indira, which leads to a bloody climax.
Lohithadas had no story to tell as Prithviraj's character of Chandrahaasan drives the film. But our poor Prithviraj is no Mohanlal or Mammootty who would have done the role with far more credibility. One wonders what Meera Jasmine was doing in this half-baked story? The villain character is not up to the mark. On the whole Chakram with all its controversies is disappointing.
