Ranjith, the scriptwriter turned director who has made some memorable films like Nandanam and Mizhi Randilum is back with Black.

It is a realistic story about people who do not have proper identity or address but still form a part of life in the city. Shanmugham (Mammootty) is a money-lender and a local hatchet man. Anandam (Shriya Reddy) is a Tamil girl who runs away from home and find solace in Shanmugham’s house.

The cast also has Rahman and Babu Antony in their comeback roles, Kolapulli Leela, Siddique, Janaki, Mohan Jose among others. Amal Neerad, a Satyajit Ray Film Institute alumnus is making his debut as cameraman. Lal is the producer and the story, screenplay direction is by Renjith. Alex Paul is the music director.
