The story begins with the narration of Kamal Hassan's resonant voice as the shot zooms in the riots of misty Kashmir.Major Mahadevan a commando in the Border security force (BSF) played by Malayalam supreme star Mohanlal is chivalrous, and can fore go attacks and pass of victory in any gritty situation.

Havildhar Jaikumar (Jeeva) is the foreman in Major Mahadevan's battalion rehashes the Major's plans to the T, and wins his heart with trust and confidence. Very soon they become the best of comrades. Meanwhile Jai leaves for his home town, to tie a knot with his lady love and fiancee Sandhya (Gopika). During wedding things turn worst in Jai's life. The terrorism by Pakistan begins across the border of Kashmir. Major Mahadevan, left with no choice but seeks Jai to fight against the captives. Newly married Jai leaves his wife for 3 days and gets back to Kashmir.

The Major and Jai together battle many of the disruptive attempts of the terrorists and save the lives of humans. But the main plan of the group of terrorist headed by Nawab, is on the verge of demolishing Islamic Mosque in Kashmir and turning hostile and making their lives a hell. The terrorists enter the house and ransack the kashmiri family by torturing and trapping them in their shells. Police officer Gopinath (Biju Menon) passes the information to (BSF) about this untowards incident. The crux of the plot is about how the Patriotic heroes rescue the innocents from the hands of the evils.

Mohanlal a veteran from Mollywood has given fabulous performance portraying a character of commando with right expressions on his face and lethal body language work on a unique tandem with dialect dialogue and bold conversation with Prakashraj is sure a treat for his hard core fans.

Jeeva with lot of conviction has done a brilliant job matching to Superstar's machismo. This is one of his carrer's best performances compared to other films. The Gopika-Jeeva romantic element is shortly conveyed. Gopika with unconvenctional looks gives an average performance. The captain of the ship Director Major Ravi, has to be commended for coming with an innovative idea of story narration. Blending the right star cast by extracting the best out of them. The movie's highlight is excellent cinemotography by Thiru, who has shot the borders of Kashmir with ethnicity. Fiery dialouges by Balakrishnan, death defying stunts by Shakthi and background score is by S.A.Rajkumar while music score for songs is by Joshua Sridhar is passable and wins the heart of patriotism.

On the bottom line, Aran is power packed action movie with lot of effort put in which leaves an impact to all our martyrs. Three cheers to the director who has dared to make a film with montage. This shows his perfection towards true patriotism.
