The 100 faces of Mohanlal

Mohanlal's mother Santhakumari was almost in tears when she saw the caricatures of her son. The caricatures displayed were of Narendran in Manjil Virinja Pookkal, Vishnu in Chithram, Joji in Kilukkam, Sethumadhavan in Kireedom, Sunny in Manichithrathazhu, Aadu Thoma in Spadikam, Jaganathan in Aaram Thampuran, Mangalassery Neelakandan of Devasuram, Manikyan of Thenmavu Kombathu and so on.

It was artist and script writer S Suresh Babu who gave a new life to these characters. These hundred caricatures were from the best of films played by the actor.

He chose caricatures as the medium as he felt that it was the best method to bring out the essence of the wide range of film characters depicted by Mohanlal. No other actor in the world was able to achieve this type of admiration.

Mohanlal said that this would be the first time an actor's hundred characters are depicted in caricatures. When contacted, Suresh said, I enjoyed doing each caricature.

Suresh, a graduate in fine arts as well as a talented cartoonist, used his skill to capture Mohanal's visage on paper.

At present, he is working on the script of Mohanlal's film Kanal.

As a scriptwriter, Suresh Babu has been able to observe Mohanlal's acting abilities from close quarters. "The range of roles enacted by Mohanlal and the way he has matured as an actor have always deeply fascinated me," Suresh Babu says.
