Ramzan replaces Onam

This is absolutely a coincidence. For the first time in the history of Malayalam cinema, there will be no major Malayalam movie release this Onam. Why?

This year, Onam falls on September 12, just a week before the Ramzan fasting period starts. During the Ramzan fasting month, producers won’t like to release new films since crowds in the theatres in Malabar area will be very poor. So, the superstars themselves have decided not to have any new releases for Onam.

Now every one's target is October 2, Ramzan day. Siddique's next Dileep movie is likely to be released on Ramzan, but other releases of superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal are not yet confirmed.

As per today, Mammootty's next release Vande Mataram will be released on July 4, while the multi-starrer Twenty:20 is scheduled to be released on June 27. Mohanlal's Madambi may grace theatres on July 11 and Prithviraj's One way Ticket is expected on July 18.
