Mammootty v/s Mohanlal

It is the classic showdown this Ramzan season between the old foes Mammootty and Mohanlal at the Kerala box-office. Mammootty�s Pothenvava takes on Mohanlal�s Photographer on October 21, Diwali Day!

The fans of both the superstars are excited and trade says it will be fireworks all the way as the titans clash. Last time their films clashed was in 2001 during Onam when Mohanlal�s Ravanaprabhu took on Mammootty�s Rakshasa Rajavu.

Please note that Pothenvava was supposed to release on Oct 19 but is now postponed to Oct 21, while Photographer has also changed its date from Oct 20 to 21!

The trade is putting pressure on producers of both the films to change the date to Oct 24, when Kerala celebrates Ramzan. If you release a film during Noyambu however close it is to Ramzan day, the opening will not be good especially in Malabar area. Last year Mammootty�s mega hit Rajamanickam opened on Ramzan day to take the biggest ever opening.

At the moment, industry analysts say that Pothenvava has an edge as it is distributed by Lal Creations the number one distributors in Kerala. They are coming up with nearly 52 prints including 10 in digital format. Added to that, Mammootty in a family based film on mother-son sentiments and laced with action and comedy is touted to be a sure winner.

Remember that it was Lal Creations who made Thommanum Makkalum a super hit. And now Pothenvava is directed by Joshy who knows the strengths of Mammootty at the box-office. He has done 32 films with the superstar.

Will the Photographer click? Mohanlal is having a dream run this year though the trade says that his last Onam release Mahasamudram was pretty lukewarm! Mohanlal is working with a new director Ranjan Pramod who wrote his super hit Naran last Onam which incidentally was directed by Joshy!

Photographer is being produced and distributed by Dream Team a new distribution concern of Howly Pottur a US based NRI. They are releasing the film in 45 centres in Kerala.
