After the super hit 'Rasathanthram', Sathyan Anthikkad is again teaming up with the two fine artistes Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine for the new movie 'Innathe Chinthavishayam'. In this movie, Anthikkad moves away from his usual rural themes and takes up a theme in an urban background.
The film zooms the lives of three up market, urbane couples on the verge of getting a divorce. In this movie Mohanlal plays the role of Gopakumar who is a garment exporter and Meera portrays Kamala, a designer and an employee of his firm. The film is actually not about them, but they become very close to these three couples.
The first couple is Muralidharan (Mukesh) who is a dentist and wife Treesa (Sukanya) and their relation is so strained that the doctor has already given the house they are staying together for rent; Peethambaran (Vijayaraghavan) and Praveena (Mohini) the second couple in the story, also suffer from a strained relationship after the husband's obsession becomes literally unbearable for his wife. In fact, he has come back from the Gulf as he could not be away from his wife for too long. Noushad (Asokan) a car businessman and his wife Rahna (Muthumani) a lawyer, enact the third couple.
Gopakumar takes Muralidharan's house for rent and is thrown into the middle of the couples crisis. Gopakumar realises that the issues that have caused the rift between the three couples are not very serious. But the three women feel that he is the kind of husband that they would have loved to share their lives with. They become very possessive of Gopakumar that his closeness with Kamala (Meera Jasmine) is not taken kindly by them.
Besides the four couples, the cast includes Innocent as Gopakumar's friend Immanuel, Mamukkoya as Shajahan, Krupa, Vanitha and others. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirwad Cinemas. Illayaraja churns music for Girish Puthenchery's lyrics. The film is shot in and around Kochi and Theni. Azhagappan cranks the camera.
