Gopika overtakes Bhavana

We are going to take you on a trip back in time. The incident occurred when director Kamal was looking for new heroines for his film 'Nammal'. 

From more than a hundred photographs, he had first selected Renuka Menon. He was now in search of another heroine. He narrowed the list down to Gopika and Bhavana. He finalized Bhavana. The film brought lot of acclaim for the young actress. She earned a special mention at the year's award ceremonies. But, nothing much happened with Gopika's career. There were no offers at all and she was fast fading into oblivion.

That was when Jayaraj decided to cast her in '4 The People'. Gopika seriously didn't believe that the film is going to dramatically alter her career. The film was a hit but Malayalam film industry still didn't bother to pay attention to her. But, people in the neighboring state weren't immune to her looks or the girl-next-doors charm.

Now, things have changed for Gopika in Malayalam too. She is going to be the first heroine of Dileep's new film 'Chaandupottu'. Bhavana plays the second heroine in the film.
