Albhuthadweep washed away!

Vinayan�s Albhuthadweep has bombed miserably at the Kerala box-office! The four days opening weekend collections are dropping from day one, with Ernakulam Savitha, a small 680 seater reporting 82 percent and Thiruvananthapuram Ajantha theatre with 78 percent!

The gutsy director who never runs after superstars had egg on his face as films of his detractors are doing extremely well. In Ernakulam Kavitha, Mammootty�s Thommanum Makkalum reported 98 percent collections in its third week, while Mohanlal�s Udayannau Tharam is still going strong with 76 percent collections in its 11th week.

And to rub it in, in smaller stations like Attingal, audiences are tearing seats in frustration. There was a heated argument between the distributor Aroma Mani and Vinayan over the climax, in which some cannibals come to the island and start eating the dwarfs. Mani wanted the long winded climax that last for more than 17 minutes to be trimmed down!

Albhuthadweep made at a cost of Rs 2.50 Crore is going to be total loss and Vinayan has to take the blame for it. Already Mani has sworn that he will never produce or distribute another Vinayan film.
