Aishwarya Rai attends World Kannada Conference

After some hiccups, Aishwarya Rai, the pride of Bangalore and Karnataka, finally took part in the World Kannada Conference in Belgaum and was accorded a rousing reception by the organizers and her fans.

The Govt. of Karnataka, which organizes the 2nd World Kannada Conference, a 3-day affair, had invited all the artistes hailing from the State to take part in the event being held in Belgaum. There was some opposition from certain quarters to the former beauty queen participating in the Conference.

That she would be presented the 'Vishwa Kannada Sammelan' award at the event had already been announced. Still, Aish was taking her time to decide about taking part in the Conference and finally decided to attend the same yesterday and was accorded a rousing reception by the organizers. Her fans, who had gathered in huge numbers, were delighted beyond limit.

Later, talking to press-persons, Aish said that it was indeed a 'honour' for her to be invited by the local Government to participate in such a prestigious event. "At no time was I planning to skip the event; I'm born and brought up in the State and why would I give it a miss? I love all the languages and it gives me great pleasure to participate in such an event in my home State," said Ash.
